PORTSMOUTH, N.H.— In a thrilling conference championship held at Pease Golf Club, the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's golf team claimed victory with a total team score of 313, securing the title.

Sunday was full of highlights as SMCC was led by an outstanding individual performance, with Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) shooting a tournament low round of 71. Other notable scores for the team included a 77 from Lucas Inman (South Portland, Maine), 82 from Owen Lee (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Asa Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) contributed an 83 which included his first ever hole in one on the par 3, 11th! Matthew Quigley (Benton, Maine) rounded things out with an 85.

Close behind, the University of Maine at Augusta put up a strong fight but ultimately finished in second place with a total team score of 322.

The Seawolves also took home more hardware on top of the Team Championship plaque. Dillon was honored as conference Golfer of the Year- also named to the All-Tournament and All-Conference teams. Inman also took home both All-Tournament and All-Conference honors. Lastly, Owen Lee was the third of five All-Conference selections for the Seawolves. This all in part due to the efforts of Co-Coach of the Year, Scott Nevers in his first season with SMCC.

The Lady Sea Wolves put together a solid day at Pease as well with all four members posting scores. Sydney Pergerson (South Berwick, Maine) led the way with an 84, highlighted by an eagle on the par 4 eighth hole! Charlotte Blanchard (Dedham, Maine) followed close behind with an 86; Delaney Blake (Bowling Green, Ohio) and Emma Hajdasz (Colchester, Conn.) finished with 97 and 99 respectively.

The Seawolves' win marks a significant achievement for the team, as they outperformed tough competition and capped off an almost perfect season. SMCC looks to make more noise in Happy Valley as they travel to Penn State for the National Championship next weekend!
