2011 Men's Soccer Season Preview

The SMCC men’s soccer season opens up this weekend with tournament play at the Albany School of Pharmacy. Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Coach of the Year Brian Dougher is looking to pick up where the team left off in 2010.  The Seawolves were the YSCC regular season champions and return all-American center back Nick Link (South Portland, ME) and Academic all-American Kyle Ehlers (Ludlow, VT). Dougher stated “we return a number of key players from the championship team and therefore have a lot of high hopes of achieving more this season.”

The program added a lot of new talent as well.  Top newcomers include forward John Coyne (Cumberland, ME), midfielder Taylor Stetson (Tolland CT) and defender Layne Kearney-Graffam (Westbrook, ME).  Assistant Coach Steve Link is also new to the program and is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge and discipline to the team.

The Seawolves start the season with a long road stretch as their first six games take place off campus.  The first home game is slated for Saturday, September 17th against conference rival New Hampshire Technical Institute.
