Seawolves Beat Northern Maine for First Conference Win

Presque Isle, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team earned their first conference win of the season this afternoon with a 6-0 victory over Northern Maine Community College (NMCC). The Seawolves were up only 1-0 going into halftime. Three-time Yankee Small College Conference Coach-of-the-Year, Brian Dougher, obviously said something right during the break as the men responded with five unanswered goals in the second half.

The Seawolves defense was on point allowing only 10 shots on goal for NMCC. Freshman goalkeeper Dakota Bush (Casco, ME) guarded the net for 45 minutes, recording 3 saves. Freshman Robby Griffin (Union, ME) came in in the second half for 37 minutes and tallied 7 saves. Colin O'Connor (Scarborough, ME) finished out the last 8 minutes in goal.

Seven different Seawolves contributed points on the offensive end. Veteran players Peter Dore (Westbrook, ME) and Kyle Ehlers (Ludlow, VT) led the way with 2 goals, 1 assist and 1 goal, 1 assist respectively. The Seawolves also saw 1 goal each from Brandon Saucier (Portland, ME), Adam Burpee (South Portland, ME)and Matt McClure (Buxton, ME). Freshmen Robert Davis-White (Casco, ME) and Kyle Gaudreau (Westbrook, ME) each contributed 1 assist.

SMCC improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The men are back on their home pitch this Tuesday, September 11th for a 3:00 PM game against conference foe Central Maine Community College.
