Men’s Soccer Scheduled For 13-Game Slate

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Finishing runner-up to the University of Maine at Machias (UMM) last season, the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer program is poised to reclaim its position in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship game with a 13-game schedule in 2017.

In his 13th year, Head Coach Brian Dougher and the SeaWolves will begin the program's 49th season on the road when they take on Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on September 2nd—the Panthers coming off a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearance.

SMCC will begin conference play and a two-game home stand at Wainwright Recreation Complex when the SeaWolves welcome College of St. Joseph (VT) and Vermont Technical College on the weekend of September 9th-10th.

The SeaWolves will pack their bags for three road games in a week's time beginning with Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on September 14th—SMCC hasn't suffered a loss in its previous 14 meetings with the Mustangs. The SeaWolves will face YSCC-opponent Paul Smith's College for just the second time in program history before making their way to New Hampshire Technical Institute on September 20th to avenge a four-game skid against the Lynx.

SMCC will return home to do battle with Hampshire College in a conference showdown on September 23rd and then it's at Bowdoin College on the 25th for an exhibition match against the Polar Bear junior varsity squad.

The SeaWolves will host CMCC, this time a non-conference game, before they embark on another three-game road slate starting with the Community College of Rhode Island on September 30th. SMCC will square up with Unity College in hopes to make it eight in a row against the Rams and then play at Quincy College for a mid-week game under the lights on October 11th.

Men's soccer will round out its regular season at home with UMM, reigning YSCC champions, and the Owls of the University of Maine at Presque Isle on October 22nd.

New to this year's postseason is the final four format without a play-in game. The YSCC championship tournament will be held at NHTI in Concord, N.H. October 28th-29th. The USCAA National Tournament is set for November 9th-13th in Virginia Beach, Va.
