
LINCOLN, R.I.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s soccer team was defeated by the Knights of the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) 1-0 in a non-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The Knights’ Edmilo Goncalves provided the offense, and the game winner at the 28:10 mark. The SeaWolves were unable to capitalize on 10 shots, and the match would finish 1-0.
SMCC junior and co-captain Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) tallied 11 saves, facing 12 shots on goal.
SMCC slips to 1-6-1 overall, and remains 1-4 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play. CCRI, a NJCAA-affiliate, improves to 2-4 on the season.
The SeaWolves get back to YSCC play when they travel to Unity College on Thursday, Oct. 5. SMCC is 13-1-1 against the Rams in its previous 15 meetings, and riding a seven-game winning streak. Kickoff from Unity, Maine is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
