Seawolves Rout Mustangs

South Portland, ME- This afternoon the Lady Seawolves took down conference rival Central Maine CC, 8-3, in the second meeting between the two teams this spring. In the first meeting between the teams, the Seawolves beat the Mustangs 8-0.

Central Maine CC fired first, scoring two runs in the first inning and managed to hold the Seawolves to a single run, holding a 2-1 lead after one. The Seawolves held the Mustangs in the top of the second and found their offensive rythmn, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning. The offensive push was sparked by a single from third baseman Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) and followed up with an RBI triple by pitcher Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH). The Mustangs chalked up one more in the third but they were unable to control the Seawolves offense as SMCC racked up three more runs to take the 8-4 victory.

Lewis and teammates Anna Allard (Parsonfield, ME) and first baseman Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) led combined for six of the eight SMCC runs, scoring two apiece. Lewis crushed two triples and brought in two runs while Allard tallied four hits with a triple and two RBIs. Gilio also added two RBIs, going 3-4 at the plate with a double.

With this win SMCC improves to 8-11 overall, 4-6 YSCC. The Lady Seawolves will take the field on Saturday, April 25th at 1pm for a double header against Dean College in their final home game.
