Chris Caswell begins his third season as Head Softball Coach. Upon hire, Caswell was tasked with rebuilding the program after a three-year hiatus. Following a 1-17 overall mark in 2023, the Seawolves logged an impressive 18-12 season in 2024. To go along with a 7-1 record in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action, SMCC earned an at-large bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series in 2024- the first appearance in program history.
During his tenure with the Seawolves, Caswell has produced four USCAA All-Americans (three first-team) and one USCAA Academic All-American.
Caswell is also the founder and director of the Colleges of New England Prospect Camp, an annual event to aid in the recruitment and college placement for high school players.
Previous to his appointment at SMCC, Caswell served as Head Softball Coach at Dover High School (N.H.) for two seasons (2020, 2021), and as Head Coach of the Lady Cannons U-16 and U-18 teams for three seasons. He also did a stint at the helm of the Granite State Elite U-18 team and the Granite State National Team. The Maine native graduated from Massabesic High School where he played varsity baseball.
In addition to his duties at SMCC, Caswell works as the Director of Facilities for the YMCA Sanford branch. Caswell resides in Alfred with his wife Rose and his three daughters Hailey, Hannah, and Emma.
