Lady SeaWolves Complete Road Sweep

HAVERHILL, Mass.- The Southern Maine Community College softball team defeated the Knights of Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in both games of its double-header on Saturday, Sept. 24. Both were considered exhibition games. 

Game 1 (W, 16-10)

The first of the two-game set lasted four innings in which the Lady SeaWolves won in convincing fashion 16-3. In this game, first-year Nicole Main (Sanford, Maine) notched five RBI on two hits including a triple. First-year Emma Burns (Berwick, Maine) collected three hits in three at-bats against NECC pitching and contributed with two RBI.

First-year Sarah Guimond (East Waterboro, Maine) started on the bump for SMCC and went the distance allowing just two runs in four innings of work. 

Game 2 (W, 7-3)

Head Coach Ray Magnant turned to Kristen Mackenzie (Seabrook, N.H.) in the second game who allowed three runs over seven innings and was credited with the win.

Burns, Guimond, and Main all recorded multi-hit games and each collected an RBI. Main's RBI came by way of a solo home run. 

Coach Magnant commented, "Today was a great day and overall a great team effort. Our play gives us confidence moving forward."

The action continues when the Lady SeaWolves play host to NECC again on Thursday, Sept. 29 in two more exhibition games. The first pitch of the double-header is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
