NORFOLK, Va.—The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released its 2017 Softball All-American Awards on Sunday, May 14 in which the 16-5 Lady SeaWolves were awarded three selections.
First-year Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) added more hardware to her rookie campaign earning First Team All-American honors. The Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Player of the Year finished atop of four USCAA offensive categories that were batting average (.597), runs-batted-in (RBI's) (46), on-base percentage (OBP) (.636), and slugging percentage (.970).
Sophomore Elle Burbank (Bethel, Maine) was selected to the 15-woman Second Team roster. Burbank ranked third among all USCAA players sporting a .535 batting average. The catcher was voted to the YSCC All-Conference team collecting 14 RBI's to go along with her .612 OBP.
First-year Sarah Guimond (East Waterboro, Maine) earned Honorable Mention recognition ranking seventh among USCAA pitchers with 10 wins in 13 starts. The right-hander tossed 13 complete games in 77.1 innings pitched and finished with a national-best 8.78 strikeouts per seven innings pitched. Guimond topped all YSCC competitors in wins, strikeouts (97), and earned run average (2.81).
