SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball program eyes its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship in six years introducing first-year skipper Autumn Jones this 2020 spring season.

Totaling a 14-9 record a season ago, the Lady SeaWolves get back to work with a 22-game slate beginning Saturday, Mar. 14 against the Northeastern University Junior Varsity program in Boston. SMCC will open conference scheduling a week later in single-game action with first-year affiliate member Northern Essex Community College, again in Boston. The same trip happens Saturday, Mar. 28 before the Lady Wolves welcome the Herons from Great Bay Community College (GBCC) to Graves Athletics Field for a matinee double-dip on Saturday, Apr. 4—part of an 8-game home stand.

Northern Essex returns the favor in South Portland for a twin bill and then it’s the reigning conference champion Lynx from NHTI a week later—the Lynx also earning an at-large bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament in 2019. The SeaWolves took all five from the Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs last year, hoping to continue success with four regular season dates scheduled this spring—the first coming Wednesday, Apr. 15.

SMCC hits the road for six games in three days, visiting NHTI, GBCC, and the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Saturday, Apr. 18- Monday, Apr. 20. The SeaWolves will duel the Mustangs on their new turf facility under the lights on Friday, Apr. 24 ahead of a home meeting with the always-talented club from CCRI to round out the regular season.

Concord, N.H. will be the host site of the 2020 YSCC Championships on Saturday, May 2. The one-day tournament will be presented by NHTI and the seeding of the four-team field will be determined upon the results of the 16-game conference regular season.
