SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – On a perfect afternoon for softball at the Graves Athletic Field on the campus of Southern Maine Community College, the Seawolves (1-3) were defeated by the rival Mustangs (2-0) in both games of Friday's doubleheader.

Central Maine Community College (CMCC) collected a 20-1 five-inning victory in the first game, led by a home run to left center from Alyvia Perrault and four RBI from Olivia Scott. First-year Emma Cousins (Wells, Maine) scored SMCC's lone run after walking to get one base in the fourth. First-years Ronnie Andersen (Tooele, Utah) and Morgan Brown (Lewiston, Maine) each tallied two hits for the Seawolves.

Game two ended 9-1 in favor of the Mustangs after being suspended due to darkness in the fourth inning. CMCC put up six runs in the second inning to pull away from the Seawolves early and pitcher Elyse Guptill allowed just four hits. Cousins tallied a single, a walk and a run scored. First-year Erica Hill (Lisbon, Maine) pitched both games for SMCC, adding a hit and a walk at the plate in game two. Andersen registered an RBI for the Seawolves.

Coach's thoughts:

"CMCC has a talented group and we couldn't string together enough good at-bats to chip into the leads they built. I thought we showed patience at the plate in the second game and we gave ourselves some things to be positive about going into the weekend." – Head Coach Chris Caswell.

SeaWolves Stars of the Day:

Cousins: Two runs scored, two walks, one hit

Andersen: One RBI, two hits
