AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team swept their doubleheader with Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in an impressive display of power and consistency.

In Game 1, the Seawolves dominated from start to finish, cruising to a 9-1 victory. Their offense caught fire, stringing together two hits apiece from Olivia Hill (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine), Courtney Frohaug (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) and Delanie Perry (DeLand, Fl.). The Seawolves took control of the base paths as well with six different players recording steals.

The SMCC pitching was lights out, as sophomore Sarah Wilkins (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada), went the distance and struck out 10 on the way to victory.

Game 2 proved to be a tougher challenge, as the Mustangs battled hard to stay in the contest putting up six runs behind the hot bat of Miah Gallan who contributed four hits including a triple.

The Seawolves' bats proved consistent and they came through in key moments to secure a 9-6 win. SMCC saw seven different players record hits—Mariah Gates (Barnstead, NH), Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada), and Perry all with multi-hit performances. Despite CMCC's effort to rally, SMCC held firm, completing the sweep and asserting their dominance on the day.

Softball looks to keep things rolling on Sunday, Sept. 22 when they travel to the University of Maine at Augusta for doubleheader action.
