SMCC vs. LINCOLN TRAIL COLLEGE

MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) fell in a tightly contested battle against Lincoln Trail College, 1-0, in non-conference softball action on Wednesday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning, as Lincoln Trail's Elahna Perry reached base with a bunt single, stole third, and later scored on an SMCC defensive miscue. Despite a strong pitching performance from Sarah Wilkins (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada), the Seawolves were unable to generate enough offense to overcome the early deficit.

The Seawolves tallied six hits, with Cameron Crerar (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double. Emily Hutchins (Kennebunk, Maine) also added a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

PITCHERS OF RECORD:

Sarah Wilkins (1-2) took the loss despite an outstanding effort in the circle, allowing just one earned run on five hits across six innings. Wilkins struck out four and did not issue a walk in the complete-game effort.

For Lincoln Trail, Kyndal Brewer picked up the win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out three. Elise Lampert closed the door with two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save.
