AUGUSTA, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball opened Monday's doubleheader with a commanding 8-0 win over the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA), backed by a dominant pitching performance and another multi-homer game from Emily Hutchins.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves jumped out early with three runs in the second, then tacked on one in the third and four in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory in five innings. Emily Hutchins (Kennebunk, Maine) stayed hot at the plate, launching two home runs for the second consecutive doubleheader and driving in two runs.
Sarah Wilkins (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) was dominant in the circle, striking out 12 and allowing just three hits across five shutout innings. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and two RBIs, continuing her season-long two-way merit.

The Seawolves tallied 20 runs on 22 hits in the second game, cruising to a 20-2 victory to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Delanie Perry (DeLand, Florida) extended her newly broken SMCC all-time RBI record by driving in four more runs, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple. Jayden Tripp (Prospect, Maine) also broke out, finishing 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.
Cassidy Dunham (Keene, New Hampshire) and Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) combined in the circle, allowing just one hit and two runs over five innings.
