AUBURN, Maine – The #3-ranked Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball defeated the #2-ranked Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta 57-49 in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament Saturday, Mar. 4.

SMCC trailed at the half but UMA struggled to score in the third—allowing the Seawolves so play catch up before finishing them off with a big fourth quarter.

Junior captain Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine) lead the team to victory with 20 points, four steals, and five rebounds. Sophomore and conference Player of the Year Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) totaled 14 points and six rebounds.

Kaeti Butterfield finished as the top scorer for the Moose with 25 points and eight rebounds.

The Seawolves advance to the finals to play the host and #1-ranked Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Sunday, March 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
