HAVERHILL, MASS.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team made history on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Northern Essex Community College winning its inaugural match in four sets.

Head Coach Garrett Lewellen expressed, "I couldn't ask for more from a first match- not only of the season but of the intercollegiate program at SMCC. We had exciting flashes of our potential at the net with hitting and blocking. We passed, dug, and served well except for a couple runs in the second set. We struggled at times finding rhythm with setting and hitting. In the end we came away with a lot of positives and most importantly a sense of unity as to what we need to focus on going forward. I am looking forward to continuing this journey with these girls."

The Lady SeaWolves open their home slate inside the HUB Athletics Building in a first-time meeting with the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College on Saturday, Sept. 18. Tune in at 6:00 p.m. to WATCH all the action LIVE.
